Volunteer with San Diego HRS

Make a Difference in the Life of a Needy Rabbit - Volunteer Today!

San Diego HRS has MANY volunteer needs including Foster Home Assistants, Bunny Cuddler's, Hay Elves, Bunny Nail Trimmers, Office Helpers, Supplies Transporters, Shelter Volunteers and more!  We will match you with a volunteer position that fits your skills and  interests. Training is provided.

We have opportunities for Parents and Children to volunteer together, for Seniors, and for those who need to complete mandatory service hours (picking up supplies and helping with hay is perfect for this).  We have occasional opportunities such as Education Events, and many regular ongoing needs.

Interested in volunteering? Visit our Volunteer Site at VolunteerMatch.com to view our many volunteer listings.  You can also complete our general volunteer application form online.

Have more questions? Contact us at volunteer@sandiegorabbits.org to talk about your volunteer interests.

NOTE: Rising gas prices are impacting the ability of volunteers to help. We can no longer depend only on our few volunteers who do most of the delivery errands,  as one person cannot afford to spend hundreds of dollars each month for volunteer work.  If many of us work together, and take just "one trip a month" we can meet our organization's needs without negatively impacting individual volunteers.

  • Sanctuary Home (housing and caring for a sanctuary rabbit for the remainder of its life)

Volunteer Opportunities for Kids

  • Many of the volunteer opportunities listed above (rabbit care, bunny store, education events, PETCO stores, etc.) can be performed by older children alongside a parent or adult guardian.  Check with us to see if a volunteer need can be met by adult/kid partners.

Teens and pre-Teens are welcome. Under 16 requires an adult to volunteer with them; all require written permission from a parent or guardian (up to age 18).  Not all volunteer positions will be appropriate for our younger volunteers; we will help you figure out where you can help.

Kids, become a volunteer with the SNAP Dragons, and be part of helping animals in San Diego County.
